Halkett hoping for history repeat

12 September 2025

Craig Halkett knows what it’s like to leave Ibrox with a smile on his face and he’ll be aiming to do just that on Saturday.

Hearts head west to face Rangers this weekend as Scottish Premiership duty resumes following the international break.

The last time Craig pulled on a maroon jersey at Ibrox was in 2021, when he popped up in the 90th minute to notch an equaliser and secure a share of the spoils.

Craig can see the parallels between then and now, with the Jambos unbeaten heading into both games, and insists he and his teammates will go into this fixture with confidence.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said; “I think it takes a lot of hard work. You need 11 out of 11 on the park, playing at their best.

“Obviously, in football you also need a wee bit of luck, but it's a place where we're confident we can go and pick up three points.

“Like I said, that game (in 2021) we got that last-minute equaliser. It was a similar feeling.

“We were doing well in the league at that point. I think we were still undefeated, so to get that goal in the last minute to stay undefeated was good. It'll be a great feeling if we can go and pick up a result, but we know it's going to be hard.

“We know how hard it's going to be, but being at Hearts and being at a massive club, you've got to go into every fixture - no matter where it is, who you're against - and believe that you can pick up three points.

“Like I said, it helps that we've got confidence in the group and we've started the season well. We know it's going to be a tough fixture, but we're going to go there and try to win.”

Craig’s pre-match press conference is available to watch in full on Hearts TV.
