Halkett: Good to be back
05 April 2025Craig Halkett admits he’s happy to be back fit as the men in maroon prepare for a crucial end to the season.
The defender returned to the matchday squad at Celtic Park last weekend for the first time since being forced off 11 minutes into the Jambos’ victory against Kilmarnock on the 25th January and is now ready to give his all to ensure a successful end to the season.
There are a number of big games on the horizon and the Scot admits that was a driving factor in helping him return as quickly as possible.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Halkett said:
“I'm delighted to be back fit and involved in squad training and looking forward to the weekend.
“The last six or seven weeks have been frustrating, but we've worked hard, the rehab's been intense, it's been tough, so I'm feeling fit and feeling good and ready to go.
“I've worked so hard these last five or six weeks to get myself in as best shape as possible, and again, I'm fighting fit and ready to go. I think that's something that's drove myself and the other injured boys to work hard and get back fit as soon as we can.
“We haven't rushed things by any means, but we've worked hard and obviously the thought of a semi-final and potentially a final to play for, top six and European places, it could be a really exciting end of the season. There's a lot to play for and it's an exciting time.
"Obviously, we're in a good position, that's in our hands. We know what we need to do going into the next couple of games and put ourselves in a good position.
"So, yes, the next two games are important, but I don't think we go away from anything we've been doing the last two, three, four months. We're going into every game wanting to win and come away with three points."
