Fulton joins Hearts Women

08 July 2025

We are delighted to announce the signing of Mairead Fulton, who joins the club on a deal until 2027.

The centre midfielder has bags of SWPL experience and after beginning her career at Celtic, she returned to Scotland in December 2019, when she joined Glasgow City.

Fulton was at the heart of much of City’s success, winning two SWPL titles at Petershill and making 150 appearances, during her five-and-a-half years with the club.

Fulton helped City reach the Scottish Cup Final last season and has also featured on big European nights for the club in the Champions League.

Now Fulton swaps orange for maroon and becomes Eva Olid’s first signing of the summer window joining on a two-year deal with the option for a further year included.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Eva Olid said:

"Mairead is someone I’ve admired for a long time, so I’m really happy to bring her to Hearts. She has a huge amount of experience and has consistently shown her quality at the top level in Scotland. We were looking for a player with her intelligence, calmness, and control — and she fits that perfectly. She’s won trophies, played in big games, and brings a mentality that will help the whole group."

Women’s Head of Recruitment Sean Burt added:

"Mairead’s track record speaks for itself. She’s been a key part of one of the most successful sides in the country and knows what it takes to win. Her experience and consistency make her a great addition, especially at a time when we’ve lost some senior players. We’re confident she’ll bring a lot of value on and off the pitch."
