Full focus on Falkirk
12 May 2026Lawrence Shankland said there’s both excitement and nerves ahead of tomorrow night’s penultimate Premiership fixture against Falkirk and explained that his side have handled these pressure situations all season.
The Jambos welcome John McGlynn’s side to Gorgie for their final home fixture of what’’s been an enthralling season and the skipper insists full focus is on taking care of their own business by picking up three points.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Shankland said:
“There's obviously that excitement there, we know the position we're in. I think you've probably thought of every scenario at this stage, but for us, the main thing is, we need to take care of tomorrow night first.
“We need to go and win that game, it's a home game for us, so we're going to do that first and then we can look beyond that.
“There's a lot to think about and take in, it's an exciting opportunity, there's a lot of talk around the place and even outwith the building everywhere you go people like to talk to you about it, so it isn't easy, but as professionals, you've got a job to do and as I said, first and foremost we need to go and win the game tomorrow night.
“There will be nerves. It's totally normal when you're in this position, there's got to be nerves for everybody. You're a human being after all, when you get this close to achieving something great, it's only normal to have them. It's just about controlling them, but throughout the season we've dealt with that really well, there's been all sorts of different pressures in games.
“We've been behind in a lot, we've had to come back and I've said to the boys a few times, we've dealt with every position you could possibly be in this season, we've dealt with it and we've come through it, so that needs to continue, there needs to be that level of composure and level head that you can go and do your job properly and if we do that tomorrow then we look to go and beat Falkirk.”
