Forsyth signs new Hearts deal

06 June 2025

Hearts Women is delighted to announce the news that Monica Forsyth has signed a one-year contract extension, subject to SFA approval.

It’s been four-and-a-half-years since Forsyth first joined the women in maroon, initially on loan from Celtic, before joining on a permanent contract in the summer of 2021.

A versatile player, having previously featured right wing, and in midfield, the number seven has predominantly found herself at wing back this season, on both flanks, again, proving her versatility.

A Scotland youth internationalist, Forsyth returned to action in February 2024, after bouncing back from cruciate ligament damage and then surgery on a meniscal root tear, which saw her sidelined for eight and eleven months respectively.

Forsyth has always shown in her game that she possesses a bit of dig and to bounce back from two long-term setbacks, before scoring in an Edinburgh Derby victory at Easter Road was quite the full circle moment for the 21-year-old.

Part of the side that reached the Scottish Cup Final in 2024, Forsyth is now keen to make more maroon memories next season and has put pen to paper on a new 12-month contract.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Eva Olid said:

“Monica has been part of the club for a number of years now, and that experience gives her a strong understanding of what we’re trying to build. She’s played in a range of positions for us and has shown quality wherever she’s been asked to play. We’re looking forward to seeing her continue to build on her performances and push herself further next season.”

Women’s head of recruitment Sean Burt added:

“Monica’s long-term involvement with the club speaks for itself. She brings good experience, has shown she can adapt to different roles on the pitch, and has the technical ability to impact games. Her international recognition highlights what she’s capable of, and we’re looking forward to her continuing to develop and contribute across the squad.”
