Findlay happy at Hearts

08 January 2026

Stuart Findlay has described his decision to sign a permanent contract with the Jambos as a straightforward one.

The central defender, who has started every league match for Hearts this season, will sign for the club on a permanent deal this summer, upon the expiration of his contract at parent club Oxford United.

Speaking to the media regarding the news, Findlay said: “As far as negotiations went, it wasn't hard, it was pretty straightforward.

“The club were more than happy to keep me on and I was more than happy to stay here, so it was quite an easy deal to come to. I've enjoyed being here for the last six months, so far, it's went really well, so it made a lot of sense to continue working together going forward and I'm really looking forward to the end of this season and the two good years hopefully ahead.

“The manager has obviously had a massive part to play in my career for the last three or four years. He took a chance on me to come back to Kilmarnock, when maybe not many did at the time. I'd like to think I've repaid him and we've worked together really well and again it was a very easy decision to come to Hearts to work under him.

“Me personally, I wasn't surprised at how well it's went at Hearts. I understand what he's like as a manager, I know what his qualities are, I know what he's capable of and I was really interested in working with him again and thankfully, we were able to get the loan deal sorted and I'm thankful we're going to hopefully have another couple of good years together.”
