Derek's Gorgie glee
05 August 2025Derek McInnes has praised the Hearts support for packing out Tynecastle Park last night and roaring the team on to victory.
The sold out signs were up on Gorgie days before the Jambos hosted Aberdeen and, on the night, there was rapture both on the pitch and in the stands.
A Harry Milne-forced Graeme Shinnie own goal set the Jam Tarts on their way to all three points before Stuart Findlay headed home to ensure Derek’s side started the William Hill Premiership campaign with a win.
Speaking to Hearts TV following the game, the Head Coach was fulsome in his praise for all in maroon.
He said; “Yes, I'm really pleased. I love seeing Tynecastle the way it was. I think there was an anticipation for the game, despite the horrible weather.
“I think since the fixtures were put out, I think it's literally 45 days. So we've all been waiting for it.
“And I loved how the fans were in early, despite the conditions, turned up and got behind the team. And I want Tynecastle to be a bit more and I'm sure the fans want that as well.
“It was an encouraging start, getting an earlier goal mirrors a lot of what we've had. I thought we were probably worthy of more.
“I think that I couldn't have been more pleased with, because it's screaming at these boys how much they want to do well here. I thought the team who showed that more was us.”
