Derek previews Falkirk (A)

10 December 2025

Derek McInnes believes the 'whole club' needed Sunday’s victory at Celtic Park and praised his players for digging deep to get the win.

Strikes from Claudio Braga along with Oisin McEntee’s second half header were enough to ensure the three points headed back along the M8 to Edinburgh.

And speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s trip to Falkirk, McInnes insists every victory is as important as the next:

“It was just an important three points, he said. “Every win is important in the Premiership. Every win is hard-fought. You don't get given wins.

“You have to do so much right to get results and for some you need to do a lot more right than others. Winning at Celtic Park is the hardest three points to get and it has been for numerous years for all the clubs.

“But for us, it was important just to try and get back to winning ways. I think we all needed to feel that win again. After being really spoiled with wins, we had loads of wins at the start and it just becomes synonymous and you get used to it and you become obsessed with winning, which is not a bad thing.

“But then when it's all of a sudden not there, you have to dig deep and get the results. I think the whole club needed the win, the support, the players, everybody. So, it was nice to get that.”

The Jambos were convincing 3-0 winners when the sides met earlier in the season, but McInnes admits Hearts will need to be at their very best to get three points as he praised the Premiership new boys and their manager, John McGlynn.

“I think being in the top-flight with Falkirk he [John] deserves that. I think Falkirk deserve that. They're a club who for so long, so many managers, so many boards couldn't quite get it right.

“John's been in there and imposed himself on the whole club. The club have come a long way since he's been in there. I think they've acted like a Premiership club for a long time now.

“Now they're actually competing in the Premiership they look like a Premier League club. So, they've been a great addition to the league, and I think John and his team deserve a lot of respect.

Although we had a strong performance against them last time and we were good on the day we still had to be really good to beat them. And I think something similar will be required.”
