Cammy’s contract delight

26 September 2023

Cammy Devlin believes joining Hearts was one of the best decisions he’s made in his life so far, after the club took up its option to his extend his contract until 2025.

Devlin, who joined the Jambos from Newcastle Jets in 2021 is a popular figure, both in the squad and among supporters and is hopeful he can continue to deliver good performances in a maroon shirt.

Speaking to the media, he said: “It’s been such a good move for me, coming from the other side of the world.

“It’s crazy that I’ve been here two years now, but it’s definitely the best thing I’ve done to date. It’s changed my life in so many ways, I’ve had so many good experiences here at Hearts and it has taken me to a World Cup.

“I think for anyone, when you are valued and appreciated in a workplace, for the club to choose to take that option up to extend my contract, that is a really nice feeling and hopefully I can turn that into good performances.”

Devlin was speaking ahead of Hearts’ Viaplay Cup Quarter-Final tie against Kilmarnock and admits that having already experienced playing at Hampden Park, he is desperate to take the Jambos back to the national stadium.

“We have an opportunity to take Hearts back to Hampden and that is an experience I had in my first season. I know everyone in that changing room is so desperate to bring that back to Hearts.

“In the League Cup, there are only a few games until you can potentially get to Hampden. So, it is there for us. I have told the boys about the Scottish Cup Final against Rangers and what a cool atmosphere that was to play in.

“My Mum and Dad flew over from Australia for that game, so for them to experience that was so cool and to know that we’re only a few games away from being in a final, just makes you so hungry to get there.”
