Bouncing back

27 November 2025

Tomas Magnusson is hoping Hearts can bounce back from their first Premiership defeat of the season as they travel to Motherwell this Saturday.

It was disappointment in the Granite City last weekend, but the Icelandic midfielder, who has started the last two matches, believes it’s now full focus on Saturday’s trip to Fir Park and the opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Magnusson said:

“It's a slight setback but we've just got to try to take the positives out of the game and look forward to the next one and try to forget that defeat.

“We got chances in the game and at situations, we took care of the ball well and it was just one of those that we couldn't get over the line in. It's football. A loss was going to come. It came on Sunday and we just try to brush it off and go for the next game.”

Last time the men in maroon faced Motherwell was at Tynecastle in September, where the Jambos came from 3-0 down to grab a share of the spoils and Magnusson praised the quality of the squad for bouncing back that day.

“We've just got to analyse Motherwell. They were excellent that day for those 45-60 minutes, but we could have stolen it in the end, and it shows how great the squad is that we can bounce back.

“I think I've settled in here fine. It's a big squad, but like I said before, it's like everyone's mates. So, if someone's playing in front of you, you just try to help them.”
