B Team claim victory in Friday Night Football

Steven Naismith made two changes to the side that faced Celtic B last weekend with Finlay Pollock and Harry Stone replacing Callum Sandilands and Zach Paris.
 
The returning Stone was called into action after just ten minutes. Producing two smart stops to deny Scott Honeyman and then Shaun Brown’s follow-up.
 
The Wee Jambos took the lead three minutes later and what a lovely goal it was. Aidan Denholm’s deep cross was perfect for Finlay Pollock, who produced a deft layoff for Jaden Ferguson. The striker showing great composure to take the ball past his man before coolly slotting the ball past Connelly in the Shire goal.
 
It hadn’t been a vintage first 45 minutes from the men in maroon and the home side would’ve felt unlucky to be trailing at the break.
 
They should have restored parity eight minutes into the second half when Hearts failed to clear a corner from the right. A scramble ensued, but Tony Coutts’ effort came back off the post.
 
The visitors then had their own chance to seal the points midway through the second half. Good work from Harry Gordon saw the ball cutback to Aidan Denholm, who walked on to the ball and fired a shot a just wide.
 
The Wee Jambos continued to push for a second goal and substitute Leo Watson almost provided it 15 minutes from time. Hearts did well to play their way out of defence before Bailey Dall was released up the left. His cross was only partially cleared, and Watson’s first-time strike was well saved by Connelly.
 
The tonic to calm the youngsters nerves arrived ten minutes from time and much like last weekend, it was a cracker from Denholm. Ferguson did well to hold the ball up and lay-off the midfielder, who checked inside and curled a shot perfectly into the top corner to make sure the points returned to the capital.
