Atkinson and Rowles make Australia Asian Cup squad

Kye Rowles and Nathaniel Atkinson have been named in Australia’s Asian Cup squad.

 

The Jambos duo will travel to Qatar next month as the Socceroos bid to be crowned the best team in the Asian Football Confederation.

 

The tournament starts on January 12th with the Final being played on February 10th at the 89,000-capacity Lusail Stadium, in Lusail which is Qatar’s second-largest city.

 

Winners of the competition in 2015, Australia open their Group B campaign on January 13th against India in Al Rayyan before facing Syria five days later, also in Al Rayyan. Their final group stage game is against Uzebekistan on January 23rd in Al Wakrah.

 

It will be a return to familiar surroundings for both Kye and Natty as they have already represented their country at major tournament when they turned out for Australia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, in Qatar.

 

Kye has 13 caps to his name, while Natty has eight.
