Angus Beith on victory over 'Rose

08 February 2026

Angus Beith praised his young Hearts B side as they secured an impressive 2-1 victory against Linlithgow Rose, making it a league double over the side this season in the Lowland League.

Owen Muirhead’s brace helped The Wee Jambos earn a well deserved three points at Prestonfield.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website at full-time, Beith said:

“I’m delighted with that. I think this is one of the toughest places that you can come to in the Lowland League. We discussed that yesterday, when we had our meeting and then, again, reinforced it before the game.

“We could still come here and play football and show bravery and be really courageous in possession, which I think we've had some brilliant moments, particularly in the first half.

“Jaedon produced a moment of magic as well, to help get us our second goal to ultimately win the game. But we showed a hell of an amount of personality and togetherness to get through the 90 because we came up against, as you have to do in these types of games, a lot of pressure.

“Jack comes up with a good save right at the end,  we've stuck together and what an unbelievable victory.”

Beith said that the win over The Rose was the best victory and performance this season in the league, and one that he wants his side to build on.

“I was just willing it over the line because if there were shades of like Clydebank away where we'd put so much into that performance. Today was a better performance because I think we performed better on the ball and we showed more bravery on the ball.

“I want them to have that feeling and that changing him that they're experiencing right now. It just brings the team closer together, gives them a bit more belief that we've not maybe had loads of this season, so delighted for them to feel that in the changing room there.”

Beith discussed the impact of winger Jaedon Donkor who came on after half-time and made the difference for the Wee Jambos in the second half.

“Even his first action, the defender tried to nick the ball and he just flicked it round them. That’s what he's capable of, he's so exciting to watch. He doesn't mind being in a two versus one situation against him.

“He finds a solution and he had a couple of balls flashed across the box as well, and he produces, as I said, the moment that that wins as the game with Owen following in with a good finish.

“He contributed brilliantly defensively as well, which is something he probably wasn't doing before, but he's developed that side of his game so well of late, so well done to him.”

Beith looked ahead to his side’s next fixture as they take on Bo’ness United at home in the Lowland League next Friday evening.

“I think one thing that I've said to them, I'm going to keep reinforcing that from now until the end of the season. Keep showing that bravery that we've shown in the last two games. We showed it against Tranent as well. Good bravery on the ball, loads of personality and just empty yourselves every single game.

“That's the bare minimum that we'd expect from them, anyway, but that's going to be the reinforcing message that I'm going to put across the lads, because a lot of them are going to have to do two games, which they'll be fine in doing.

“I'm not saying that that's like a hardship for them because they just love playing games. But as a smaller group, there’s loads of games, it’s so important that they stick together and show those three things that I've mentioned.”
