Andy's excited to be back for final three

05 November 2022

Our versatile midfielder admits he’s found his recent luck with injury unusual having so far enjoyed a  career relatively clear of the treatment room.

But with this misfortune behind him, all his attention now goes to getting all three points when Hearts travel to Fir Park tomorrow night.

“It’s been a long time coming, to be honest. It’s been frustrating because I’ve been proud of my availability over the last few years – I’ve never really had many injury problems,” he told the media in his press conference.

“It’s a good feeling to be back on the pitch and ready to help my teammates. We’ve got three hugely important games to go and we’re starting with a Motherwell team that’s done extremely well to get top six.

“They got a great victory up in Dingwall the other day. We’ve played against them three times and gotten mixed results. They’ve all been extremely tight so we’ll see what happens. They’re a competitive side that are direct and put lots of bodies forward.

“They’re chasing Europe, and we at Hearts know what that’s like – except we obviously did it a wee while ago now.

“In between the four walls, we’ve been very quiet about what we wanted to achieve from the start. Now we’re going into the tail end of the season with third secured and a cup final to come. We wanted to be competitive in the cup and, barring the League Cup against a very good Celtic side, we’ve done that.

“When you look back at the end of your career, you remember the big matches you played in. Hopefully we can get over that last hurdle on the 21st.”
