Alex's maroon century

06 December 2023

Alex Cochrane admits he is loving his time in maroon as he prepares to make his 100th appearance for the Jambos.

The former Brighton full back will reach the milestone if he is involved against Rangers on Wednesday night and told the media he has enjoyed every minute of his time in Gorgie.

“It has absolutely flown by," Cochrane said, speaking at the pre-match press conference. "I remember when I first came up here, it was all about playing men’s football, so to reach 100 appearances for this club is a big milestone.

“I have enjoyed my time up here a lot and I think that is the most important thing. I have enjoyed every minute. There have been tough times, but I have learnt a lot along the way. I am looking forward to tonight and hopefully mark it with a victory.

“I’ve felt that since the first day I came up here. As a player, I am always one who wants to give their all on the pitch and at a club like Hearts, if you do that, then the fans will respect you in that sense."

The men in maroon head into tonight's match in good form, following four consecutive league victories, but Cochrane admits Hearts will need to be at their best against Rangers to come out on top.

“The confidence is growing week by week. We know third place is where we want to be. The teams behind us are chasing us and it’ll be competitive, because this league is, but it is up to us to focus on our jobs and responsibilities to go out and get a result.

“It’s been a good run, but we want to extend that. We know we can’t get complacent. Rangers have real quality so we know if we aren’t at it, then they will punish us, you saw that against Celtic. So, we’ll need to be at it from the start, but it is a game we are really looking forward to.”
