Alex arrived on loan at Hearts from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2021.
The 21-year-old left-back joined the Jambos on a season-long loan from the English Premier League side, subject to international clearance.
Capped for England U20s, Alex has first-team experience with the Seagulls and spent last season on loan at Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, where he played his part in helping them to the Belgian First Division B title.
After an impressive season at Tynecastle in 2021/22, where he helped Hearts secure third place and a spot in the Scottish Cup final, Alex made a permanent transfer to Edinburgh in the summer of 2022.
