Hearts ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in a pre-season friendly against Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic.
At a rain-soaked New Dundas Park, the drenched spectators were treated to a good display of fast, flowing football from a youthful Hearts side, complemented by first-teamers like Stephen Kingsley, Jamie Walker and Armand Gnanduillet.
Both sides started the match brightly, with Ross Stewart being tested by a long range effort, and Gnanduillet heading over from close range all inside the opening ten minutes.
Hearts took the lead on 19 minutes, when Leo Watson’s cross from the left wing made its way to Connor Smith at the back post. Smith got the ball onto his left foot and curled his shot into the corner to open the scoring.
Gnanduillet doubled the lead on the half hour mark, after Walker picked the ball up midway into the Bonnyrigg half, and played a lovely pass through the defence for the big striker, who finished well, side footing home off the post.
The forward grabbed his second moments after the half-time interval, when Smith brought the ball down superbly on the edge of the box and slipped a pass through with the outside of his boot, which Gnanduillet buried into the far corner.
The second half was, as expected, much slower due to the raft of substitutions from both sides, but Smith had one last chance to score late on when he found himself through on goal, but his shot was saved.
