Match Report | Celtic Women 2-4 Hearts Women

22 October 2026

An inspired second-half performance gave Hearts Women a 4–2 victory over Celtic on Wednesday evening at Kirkintilloch Community Sports Complex, with goals from Ellen Dolan, Carly Johns, and Mariana Speckmaier securing all three points for the Jambos.

Manager Andy Thomson made two changes from Sunday’s win against Partick Thistle, bringing Mariana Speckmaier into the attacking line and returning Ellen Dolan from suspension to replace Keri Halliday and Erin Rennie.

Celtic opened the scoring with their first chance of the evening when Maria McAneny capitalised on a corner in the 3rd minute. Hearts equalised in the 32nd minute through a powerful long-range strike from Ellen Dolan from outside the box.

Four minutes later, Celtic reclaimed the lead through a second goal from McAneny. However, Carly Johns answered back for Hearts just two minutes later, winning and converting a penalty in the 38th minute to tie the game before the break.

Half-time: Celtic 2–2 Hearts

Ellen Dolan grabbed her second goal of the evening five minutes after the restart, connecting with a curled pass by Carly Johns with a precise side-foot volley to make it 3–2. Mariana Speckmaier then put the game out of reach in the 62nd minute, showing great composure before slotting her shot beyond Rodgers in the Celtic goal.

Hearts continued to create clear-cut opportunities, with Speckmaier hitting the crossbar and a Kayla Jardine shot being tipped over the goal. The Jambos' pressure and possession-based game shone through to see out the rest of the night, keeping the ball and defending resolutely as a unit to seal the victory.

The Jambos now turn their attention to Sunday’s league fixture at home to Montrose at Ainslie Park, with kick-off at 13:00.
