Alexander Schwolow says Hearts have to improve in both boxes if they're to get a positive result against Sturm Graz tomorrow night and believes the power of Tynecastle can have a say in the outcome.
The Jambos have it all to do to overturn a four-goal deficit against the Austrians but the German, who will be playing his last game for the club tomorrow, says the focus is on getting the first goal and building from there.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Schwolow said:
“Last week was so disappointing. That is a major feeling I have. But despite that, yeah, we want a good game tomorrow, of course. Present ourselves differently than last week, and that's where the focus is on at the moment.
“Focus on the details. We have to do better on the pitch. I think the result has been very tough. I think, in the end, because we didn't score, I think we could have scored like one, two goals and conceded at least one, two goals fewer.
I think we should just focus on the small details, like I said, scoring a goal and build up from there. In Tynecastle, a lot of things can happen. But we should just focus step by step.”
It’s been a summer of change at Tynecastle, but the stopper believes Hearts are in a good place for the future as he praised the new arrivals on and off the pitch.
“I think the new boys who came in, all very, very good boys, good players.
“It's not easy. A lot of changes for everybody, also for the players who played here last season and the seasons before. I think it's normal, it's a process.
“It's just, after playing such an important game, after three weeks of pre-season, or three and a half weeks, it's just always tough. And I think the result, like I said, was very, very harsh.
“We have a lot of things to improve, that's for sure. But I see a lot of potential, all the guys in the locker room, a lot of potential. We just have to bring it together consistently and over the 90 minutes.
“We focus on scoring the first goal and then we'll see. Football is crazy sometimes. Tynecastle has a lot of power.
“We've experienced it a lot of times last year. It seems overwhelming, the result. But yeah, we do believe and nothing is impossible in football.”
