Husband duo sign first professional contract

02 April 2024

Hearts Women are delighted to announce that Jessica and Erin Husband have both signed their first professional contracts with the club, signing deals until the summer of 2027.

The twins, who have both been a part of the Hearts Academy since 2019, after arriving from Raith Rovers, have this season been involved in training with Eva Olid’s first team on a regular basis.

The pair have also featured in numerous matchday squads, and both made their debuts for the women’s team earlier in the season.

For all their success with the Jambos, including a treble with the Hearts girls U16s last season, the duo have also represented Scotland at under-17 level during the 23/24 campaign.

Now they have pledged their future to the club by penning their first professional contract, which will see them remain in maroon until the summer of 2027.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Hearts Women’s head coach Eva Olid said:

“It’s great news that Jess and Erin have decided to sign their first professional contract here at Hearts. We have so many talented young players in the academy right now and it’s great to see some of them starting to train and play with us on a more regular basis.

“To have that pathway from the academy is so important for any club, but we always want to give opportunities to players with potential and Jess and Erin certainly fall into that category.

“They are of course, very talented young players on the pitch, but off it, they have the right attitude and values to be professional players. I am delighted to have them here and I look forward to working with them more regularly over the next three years.

Head of Women’s Recruitment Sean Burt, added:

“This is extremely positive news for both Hearts Women and the Hearts Academy in general. Jess and Erin are two extremely talented young players, who by committing their futures to the club and signing long-term contracts, have shown that Hearts is a great place for young players to continue their development.

“I have previously mentioned how we want to recruit from within and this is a fine example of highlighting the quality our academy has to offer. Jess and Erin have both been involved in the first-team environment for some time now and for their age, they have shown a fantastic attitude and eagerness to learn.

“Finally, from the club’s point of view, it's brilliant to secure two bright prospects, who we believe will play a big part in the future of Hearts Women.

Head of Girls Academy Emma Hunter, added:

“It’s great news and something we need to celebrate within the club, as it gives a platform for all players within the Academy, setting the ability to see the opportunity as young players.

"A huge congratulations to both Jess and Erin, as it’s a huge achievement at such a young age, but we must also ensure we congratulate the wider team who have supported them both throughout their time at the club.

"It’s an opportunity within the Academy to reflect on the successes, but we are also mindful that we need to keep evolving as the landscape of the women’s game continues to grow.

“We have seen a number of Academy players feature and play within the women’s first team squad recently, which demonstrates the belief and trust that Eva and her team have in the young players.

“We look forward to seeing Jess and Erin continue their journey here Heart of Midlothian and wish them all the success they deserve.”

Huge congratulations, Jess and Erin!
