Hearts Women: squad update as six depart

06 July 2022

As the team prepares for the new campaign, we’re saying a fond farewell and thank you to several members of the first team squad.

Departing this summer is Claire Delworth, Lia Tweedie, Beth McKay, Clare Williamson, Tegan Browning and Ailey Tebbett.

We sincerely thank all departing players for their service to the club and wish them every success in the next chapter of their careers.

Claire Delworth:

Claire’s long association with the club ends this summer, having enjoyed many memorable moments at Hearts.

She joined her childhood heroes as a youngster from Spartans, and the lifelong Jambo went on to live the dream, breaking into the squad and becoming a key member of the Andy Enwood team that secured promotion to the top flight as SWPL2 champions in 2019.

Lia Tweedie:

Lia moves on this summer after crossing the Edinburgh divide from Hibs in September 2020. A keen Hearts supporter, Lia brought her talents to Tynecastle and gave her all in a maroon jersey.

Beth McKay:

The Northern Ireland futsal international departs Tynecastle. Beth arrived at the club in January 2021 from Spartans during Andy Kirk’s reign after spells with Hibs and Stirling University. She netted her first goal for the club back in January with a stunning free-kick against Spartans.

Clare Williamson:

Midfielder and vice-captain Clare moves on from Hearts with a SWPL2 winner’s medal under her belt, having played a big role in driving the club over the line in our successful 2019 promotion push.

Tegan Browning:

Tegan exits Tynecastle after joining the club from Boroughmuir Thistle in the summer of 2021. She now leaves to experience life in the United States, and we wish her well on her travels.

Ailey Tebbett:

American goalkeeper Ailey moves on with our best wishes, after enduring a torrid time with injuries. Her Hearts career sadly never got off the ground but showed flashes of her clear potential in previous spells with Kilmarnock and Motherwell.
