Fox previews Rovers test

08 March 2024

Hearts B head coach Liam Fox admits he is expecting a tough match from tonight's visitors Albion Rovers.

The Coatbridge side, led by former Jambo Sandy Clark, are unbeaten in the league in 2024 and after a below-par start, have really picked up as the season reaches its finale.

The Wee Jambos came out on top when the sides met back in August, but Fox admits that both sides will have a different look to them when they take to the Ainslie Park turf and admits Rovers will pose another tough test for his young side.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Fox said:

“Gary Kirk and I went to watch them last weekend, when they had a good performance and a good victory against Linlithgow Rose.

“We are fully aware of the threats that they can cause us, but we are looking to continue on from our previous two games, where we have had two good results, and also two good performances.

“Sandy has worked at a high-level in the game for a long time. He is a very well-respected coach. I was very pleased with our result and performance against them at the start of the season, which feels like a very long time ago now, but we’ve got a bit of a different team now.

“We have been promoting younger players recently, so this will be another really good test for them.”

The men in maroon currently sit fifth in a congested Lowland League table, just three points off second spot and with three games in the next eight days, Fox sees this as a good opportunity to continue their good form and finish the season strong.

“We spoke in our pre-match meeting about how far this group have come this season, they’ve got themselves in a really good position, by putting in some really good performances.

“But we want to finish the season strong,” he continued. The players have all got their own individual targets between now and the summer.

“So, we’re all motivated to do really well between now and then, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, we have some really difficult games coming up, starting with three games in the next week, which will be tough, but it’s something we’re really looking forward to."

Tickets for tonight's match are available on the gate and are priced at £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and Under-12's go free. Turnstiles open from 7pm.
