Forrest signs new contract

19 January 2024

Heart of Midlothian is delighted to confirm that Alan Forrest has signed a new contract.

The forward has penned a new deal with the club until the summer of 2026, subject to Scottish FA approval.

27-year-old Alan joined the Jambos in the summer of 2022 and has made 67 appearances to date in maroon, bagging seven goals including a memorable Europa Conference League strike in Riga and a stunning Edinburgh derby goal at Tynecastle Park.

He set up both goals in Hearts’ last league outing, a 2-1 win at Livingston, before the winter break and having earned a new two-and-a-half-year deal, he and his teammates return to action this weekend in Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against The Spartans.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, head coach Steven Naismith said: “It’s great news that Alan has committed his future to the club.

“He’s a hard worker, always keen to learn and I think everyone can see his performances on the pitch continue to get better as the games go by.

“He’s made a big impact here since joining and we’re delighted he’s going to be around for a while longer.”

Sporting Director Joe Savage said: “It’s a big boost to get Alan’s future sorted. He’s a popular player in the dressing room and with the coaching staff, so for him to commit his future to Hearts is very positive.

“I have to give a big thanks to Alan’s agent, Liam O’Donnell, for his assistance in getting the deal done.

“There are, of course, a few players approaching the end of their contracts and we’re currently in discussions with them about extending. I’d like to think we’ll have some more positive news on that front soon.”
