Findlay to sign permanent deal

07 January 2026

Heart of Midlothian is delighted to confirm that Stuart Findlay will join the club on a permanent basis this summer.

An ever-present at the back for the boys in maroon, the towering defender will pen a deal until the summer of 2028 upon the expiry of his contract at EFL Championship side Oxford United.

Stuart hit the ground running for the Jambos following his summer switch from the O’s: scoring against Hamilton Accies on his debut in July, and has remained on the goal trail since, with five goals in his 24 appearances to date.

An attacking threat at one end of the pitch, but a rock at the back too, Stuart has helped Hearts to nine clean sheets this campaign as the Jambos enjoyed a blistering start to the season.

A popular figure in the dressing room, Stuart says Hearts has felt like home since day one - and can’t wait to kick on in a maroon jersey with a blockbuster second half of the season still to come.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Head Coach Derek McInnes said: “Stuart has been every inch the Hearts player I expected him to be when he came in during the summer.

“He’s been part of a successful defence and he’s a danger in opposition boxes, and he is the type of character you want around the dressing room.

“He loves it here and wants to be part of something special, so it made perfect sense to take advantage of his contract expiring down south and get his future sorted with Hearts.”
