Carly staying put
09 May 2025The club is delighted to announce that Carly Girasoli has signed a two-year contract extension until the summer of 2027.
The central defender, who joined the club in the summer of 2023 following her departure from Barclays Women’s Championship side London City Lionesses and quickly established her slot in the centre of the defence.
An aggressive defender, comfortable in a back three or four, Girasoli wasted no time in making her mark in a maroon jersey in coming up with some big goals, including a header in the 2024 Scottish Cup semi-final against Spartans.
Having made 32 appearances in her debut season, Girasoli entered the 24/25 campaign itching to help the Jambos build on what was another record, breaking season the previous year but in just the fourth league match of the season, the 23-year-old suffered an ACL injury which would see her ruled out for the season.
Having gone through surgery in September, the defender is now back running on the grass and nearing a return to full contact training, before undergoing a full pre-season with the rest of the squad ahead of season 25/26.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Eva Olid said:
“Carly is an aggressive player and a real leader on the pitch. We’ve definitely felt her absence this season, as she brings a presence that lifts the players around her.
“This season has been a real challenge for her with her injury, but she’s stayed connected to the squad and shown her usual commitment. We’re really pleased she’s staying with us and can’t wait to have her back out there.”
Women’s Head of Recruitment Sean Burt added:
“Carly is a big personality and a key figure in this team, so getting her signed on again was important for us. Even while injured, she’s been a strong influence around the squad, and that says a lot about her character. We’ve missed her edge on the pitch, and we’re looking forward to seeing her back doing what she does best.”
