Match Report | East Fife 0-7 Hearts

5th July 2022

Hearts ran out 7-0 winners in our second friendly match of the summer against East Fife at Bayview Stadium.

In a testimonial match honouring East Fife hero Kevin Smith, Stephen Kingsley scored a hat-trick with Alex Cochrane, Finlay Pollock, Alan Forrest and Trialist also on target as Robbie Neilson's men got more valuable minutes under their belt.

East Fife enjoyed the first chance of the opening exchanges, man of the moment Kevin Smith putting the ball past Ross Stewart after ten minutes before the linesman's flag chopped it off.

It wasn't long before the Jambos had their first, some cute interplay between Boyce and GMS on the edge of the area culminated in Alex Cochrane rifling home a powerful shot high into the net.

Hearts continued to threaten, with Liam Boyce testing Jude Smith in goal, but it was Finaly Pollock who bagged the second just ten minutes later.

After a bit of pinball from a Grant corner, the ball fell to Finlay who smashed home a sensational strike from the edge of the area.

And it was the Hearts trialist who made it three going into half time. A good set piece delivery from Jorge Grant on the left found the trialist, who scored with a diving header.

Hearts kept up their relentless form into the second half, notching again just five minutes after the restart - Stephen Kingsley with a sweet dipping effort from range that totally deceived Smith in the Fifers' goal.

Another fine set-piece delivery from Jorge Grant at the corner brought Kingsley's second of the evening, with the defender rising to nod the ball into the East Fife goal after 55 minutes.

He would soon have his hat-trick, a foul on Finlay Pollock in the area clearing the way for Kingsley to convert from the spot and ensure the match ball was coming home.

Alan Forrest wrapped up the scoring on 62 minutes - driving home a nice goal from close range to extend his fine scoring run he started back in Spain against Europa FC.

A good work out for the Jambos as we prepare for Ainslie Park tomorrow night against Spartans.
