Jorge of the Jambos

27 June 2022

The 27-year-old joins the Jambos on a three-year deal - subject to international clearance - from the English League One side for an undisclosed fee.

Jorge becomes Robbie Neilson’s fifth signing of the summer window and has immediately joined up with his new teammates at the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

He brings a wealth of experience to the Jam Tarts’ engine room having made a name for himself with Nottingham Forest, who he turned professional with in 2013 and made his debut for in 2014, scoring his first senior goal in a 3-1 League Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Two loan spells at Notts County followed, where Jorge scored an impressive 19 goals in 56 appearances in season 2017/18 and was named in the PFA League Two Team of the Year.

After campaigns at Luton Town and Mansfield Town, Jorge moved to Lincoln City in 2019. His performances at the Imps saw him once again voted into the PFA Team of the Year.

Peterborough came calling in June of last year and he joined the Posh for an undisclosed fee.

Now Jorge will continue his career in maroon and the manager is delighted to welcome him to the Europe-bound Jambos.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Robbie said: “I’m really pleased to get Jorge in as we continue to build our squad for a historic season.

“He’s an experienced player who will bring dynamism and guile in the final third of the pitch and I’m really looking forward to working with him.

“The squad is starting to take shape but we’re not finished yet and I hope that in the weeks ahead we can continue to add quality to it.”

Sporting Director Joe Savage said: “We’re all delighted to be able to get Jorge over the line and have him join us out in Spain.

“He’s a really talented player and one we identified a while back as someone who could add value to the team, so to get him in a maroon shirt is great.

“Once again, our Board of Directors have backed us to get it right and I give them my thanks, as well as Jorge’s agent James, who has really played a massive part in helping to get this deal done.
