Hearts have today completed the signing of Everton midfielder Beni Baningime.
The 22-year-old will move to Tynecastle Park on a 3-year-deal for an undisclosed fee subject to clearance.
Highly-rated Beni joins the Jambos after making quite an impact with the Goodison Park side’s academy teams, leading to appearances in the Premier League.
Born in the DR Congo, Beni entered the Toffee’s youth system aged 9. Twice a Premier League 2 winner with Everton’s U23s, he made his first team debut in a League Cup encounter against Chelsea in 2017 and shortly followed it up with a Premier League debut against Leicester City.
He featured 12 times for Everton’s first team and enjoyed loan spells with Wigan Athletic and Derby County.
Beni now begins the next chapter of his career in Gorgie and manager Robbie Neilson is delighted to get someone of his pedigree signed up.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Robbie said: “It’s great to get the deal done and Beni signed up.
“He’s been at Everton for a long time and has developed to a really high standard. He’s had experience of playing in England’s top flight, which is fantastic, but most important for me is that he has shown a real desire to come to Hearts and that’s a good sign.
“There is no denying Beni is a talented player and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
Sporting Director Joe Savage said: “Both sides were really keen to get the deal done which is always a positive.
“Beni has had a great schooling at Everton. He’s won the Premier League 2 twice with David Unsworth’s team and I know there is a really high standard down there, but he’s now ready to play first team football and we can give him that platform.
“We’ve stressed that we want to sign quality over quantity and in Beni I think we’ve got ourselves a quality player with the potential to do really well for Hearts.”
