Craig Halkett spoke of his excitement for the future after penning fresh terms at Hearts, with the centre-back targeting more memorable days in a maroon jersey.
A stand-out in the Jambos' revival over the past few seasons, Halkett will remain at Tynecastle until the summer of 2024 following a series of impressive performances at the heart of Robbie Neilson's defence.
"Staying here was something I always had in the back of my mind," Craig told Hearts TV.
"These things always take some time to sort out, but I'm really happy to get it done and I'm looking forward to progressing my career at Hearts."
Battling back from a difficult start to life in Gorgie in 2019, his towering presence at the back and memorable goals at the front have earned plenty of individual plaudits.
And with Hearts looking good in third in the cinch Premiership, Craig reckons the best is still to come for the high-flying Jambos.
"It's been quite a journey. Where we are now is probably where I thought we were going to be back in 2019," he added.
"I always saw this club as one that goes for the top end of the table and pushes for European places; one that wants to get to cup finals and win trophies.
"I feel like we're starting to get to that position. We're in third at the minute and have a chance to progress in the Scottish Cup: that's the aim going forward.
"The manager, the staff, Joe, and the players are all pulling in the same direction. It's a perfect fit."
