Andy: We've Come a Long Way

9th April 2022

Andy Halliday was in an introspective mood following our 3-1 derby triumph over Hibs at a sunny Tynecastle.

The versatile midfielder was the hero of the afternoon; scoring twice to cement third place and European football for the first time since 2015.

The club’s been on a long journey since he first arrived in Gorgie back in 2020, and Andy spoke of his pride that the team’s continuing desire to improve has carried on.

“It’s a great occasion. As football players these are the types of games you want to play in,” he told Hearts TV.

“For the next 48 hours, we’ll sit and enjoy the result. It’s been a great season for the club and I think it’s important that we reflect on how far we’ve come.

“It’s a great game and a great three points but come Monday, as a playing squad, it’s important we focus on next week.

“As a team, we’ve had the same mantra from the get go. If you can get three points on a Saturday, then the league table will take care of itself. Let’s not beat around the bush, it’s great to finally get it secured.

“There’s still room for improvement, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. The season’s not over and it’s important we don’t go over the finish line with a whimper.

“We’ve got a massive game coming up, and we’ll be raring to go when it’s time.

“I’ve played in plenty of derbies – I’ve won some and lost some and had many emotions within them. It’s how you bounce back in the face of adversity. We had a blip a few months ago and I think we showed what we’ve got.”
