Hearts today announced a new three year extension to their deal with Umbro.
The already successful partnership has been extended to appoint Umbro as “Official Technical Partner for Women and Girls’ Football”. The overall deal, which is worth seven figures, has been supplemented by an additional six figure sponsorship of the Hearts Women’s team.
The announcement coincides with the Club’s move to integrate women’s football fully into the Hearts Academy structure. Hearts statement of intent was clearly signaled earlier this year with the recruitment of Kevin Murphy from Manchester City. Hearts Women will play their final game of the season at Tynecastle Park on Sunday at 2pm knowing that a draw or a win will secure top spot in the league and automatic promotion to the top flight.
Umbro’s partnership with the Club has seen record sales, with this season’s groundbreaking third kit selling out within a week.
Hearts’ Director of Community and Partnerships, Ann Park commented:
“We are delighted to be renewing our partnership with Umbro for a further three years. Umbro has a long history with Hearts, producing some of our most iconic jerseys and we are confident that this new deal will go down well with supporters.
We are particularly pleased that Umbro is backing the move to bring women’s football into the Club. Their commitment to supporting the development and growth of women’s football at Hearts has brought in an additional six figure investment. We welcome their progressive approach and commitment to supporting the diversity of our players and our fan base.
Supporting women’s football is a great investment for sponsors. The game is growing exponentially; it is a clear statement of companies’ support for equality and diversity and it is no surprise that our plans are attracting organisations who align with our values and wish to associate their brand with Hearts. This is the first in a number of sponsorships that we will unveil in 2020.”
Ewan Scott, Managing Director of GLD Umbro commented:
“Umbro is very excited to be extending our commitment to Heart of Midlothian and thrilled to broaden our sponsorship to include women and girls’ football. Umbro is fully committed to leading the field in the women’s game with a great range of technical apparel designed specifically for female footballers. Hearts are to be commended on their plans to accelerate the integration of women’s football and we are confident that their Academy set up will pay dividends as the team continues its rapid upward trajectory. We are proud of our long history with the Club and look forward to playing a significant role in the future.”
The Club hopes to see many people at Tynecastle Park this Sunday for the most exciting game of the women’s season as Hearts Women take on Partick Thistle. Kickoff is at 2pm and tickets, which can be picked up on the day, are priced at £3 for adults with children and season ticket holders going free.
