John Souttar insists spirits are high in the camp heading into Saturday’s Ladbrokes Premiership match away to Hamilton Accies.
The Jambos returned from the international break with a positive showing in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Aberdeen at BT Murrayfield, with only the heroics of Dons ‘keeper Joe Lewis preventing a certain three points for the men in maroon.
The 20-year-old believes there are lots of positives to take from that game into Saturday’s match at the Superseal Stadium as they look to bag all three points.
Speaking to HeartsTV, he said: “I think it’s a good atmosphere about the place. I thought we were very good at the weekend, I thought we were so unlucky not to get a win.
“Another day we win two or three nil, their keeper has had a worldie. I think everyone has got to stay upbeat.
“There’s no point being annoyed or being too down about it, we’ve just got to take the positives.”
The home of Hamilton has not been a happy hunting ground for the Jam Tarts in recent years, with meetings between the two resulting in two draws and a loss over the past two seasons.
That’s something the Scotland U21 cap is keen to rectify, and he thinks his side can take confidence from last weekend’s performance.
“Obviously we’ve not won there since 2011 so it’s going to be a tough, tough game on the astro, which is never easy,” he said. “It’s a completely different game from the grass.
“You wouldn’t imagine everything is so different; the way you check, the way you move is so different.
“That gives them an edge but I think if we play like we did last weekend then I think we’ll be fine.”
