Liam Fox has praised his U20s side for finding their feet in last night’s Development League win over Dundee.
The Wee Jambos triumphed 3-0 at Ochilview, thanks to first-half strikes from Robbie Buchanan and Dario Zanatta, before comeback star Angus Beith capped off an impressive performance with the third.
U17s and U20s coach Liam was pleased with how the boys went about their business, which tees them up nicely for Sunday’s Little Big Shot Youth Cup game against Inverness CT at Tynecastle.
Speaking to Hearts News, he said: “I’m delighted with the result and also delighted with the performance. I thought the lads were excellent last night from the very first whistle.
“They played with good energy and a good tempo. They did a lot of the things that we like at this football club; they passed the ball very well and they pressed it very well.
“I think the difference last night was that we gave ourselves a platform in the game. We started it very well and confidence grew as the game went on.
“I was really pleased with the 90 minutes as a whole.”
Liam reserved special words of praise for Beith, who made only his second start after months out through injury.
“I was delighted for Angus, I thought he was the best player on the park,” he said. “His passing range and composure on the ball was great. He looked hungry to be back which is good news for the U20s group and also the first-team group.
“He got his wee reward at the end with his goal.”
The Wee Jambos are back in action this Sunday when they host Inverness CT at Tynecastle in the Youth Cup. Kick-off is 1pm, the Main Stand will be open for supporters and entry is £5 adults, £1 concessions.
