Ryo's Japan beat Brazil

15th October 2019

Ryotaro Meshino helped Japan U22s to a victory over Brazil’s Olympic team yesterday.

The Jambos’ forward, on loan from Manchester City, was handed a first start for his national team as Japan edged out their hosts 3-2 in a friendly encounter near Brazil’s east coast.

Michael Smith’s Northern Ireland also enjoyed friendly success, beating the Czech Republic 3-2 in Prague last night.

The visitors raced in a 3-0 first half lead before a quickfire double in the second period capped off an entertaining game, with Michael remaining an unused sub.

Meanwhile, Glenn Whelan could help Republic of Ireland qualify for the 2020 European Championship finals tonight.

Ireland face Switzerland in Geneva at 7.45pm knowing that a win would book their spot in next summer’s tournament.
