Robbie: Safety first

13th December 2014

Head coach feels for fans but understand why decision was made to call off Cowdenbeath match.

Robbie Neilson has expressed his disappointment at today’s game at Cowdenbeath being called off, but knows with players’ safety at risk it was the right decision.

The Central Park pitch failed an inspection this morning, with parts of the surface still frozen.

Robbie knows everything was done to get the game on but it sadly wasn’t to be.

Speaking exclusively to Hearts News after the decision was made, the head coach said: “I’m obviously disappointed that the game won’t go ahead, both for the players and the supporters.

“The lads have worked hard all week to get ready for this game, but with parts of the pitch proving dangerous then I believe the right decision has been made to call the game off.

“I feel for the fans as well, as they were due to turn up in the numbers today – as they have all season – but hopefully they will still come and cheer us on when the game is rearranged.

“We now turn our focus to Alloa Athletic, who visit Tynecastle next Saturday.”
