Neil Alexander has revealed he’s pleased with Hearts’ start to the 2015/16 season, but knows just how tough St Johnstone will be as opening day opponents.
The Jambos host the Perth Saints at Tynecastle on the first day of the season, and while the Hearts No. 1 can’t wait to get started, he’s aware of how dangerous their Europa League-bound opponents will be.
Speaking at the launch of the Ladbrokes Premiership fixture list at Edinburgh Castle, Neil said: “I’m delighted with the fixture list. Obviously, all the games are going to be tough in this league but it’s a good start for us.
“Being at home, hopefully with a full, packed Tynecastle, there will be a good atmosphere and it’s a good game that hopefully we’ve got a good chance of picking up three points.
“I think the more games you get in pre-season is an advantage. You can gel together, especially if you’re bringing more players to your squad. But I’m sure we’ll be well prepared and ready for that first game of the season.
“They’re all going to be tough games, home and away. St Johnstone had a fantastic season last year and we’re under no illusions that it’s going to be a tough game and a tough season.”
