International Round-Up

10th June 2019

Michael Smith was handed a starting berth in Northern Ireland's European Qualifier vs Estonia on Saturday.

Michael played 64 minutes in his country's 2-1 victory in Tallinn and is now preparing for another tough test away to Belarus this coming Tuesday.

Fellow defender John Souttar was an unused substitute in Scotland's 2-1 win over Cyprus at Hampden. Hearts' Young Player of the Year will now travel with the squad for their upcoming qualifier in Belgium on Wednesday evening.

Elsewhere, youngster Alex Petkov came on at half-time as Bulgaria U21s lost on penalties to Israel in a friendly tournament with the game tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes. He then played the full 90 in the 0-0 draw with Cyprus, which resulted in a penalty shootout victory for the young Bulgarians.

Marcus Godinho is also on international duty with Canada and is currently preparing for their first Gold Cup match against Martinique in Los Angeles on June 15th.
