Jason Holt has revealed that the Jambos are feeling the benefits of their extra training sessions after brushing aside Dumbarton on Saturday.
Hearts ran out 5-1 winners at Tynecastle and the midfielder knows that upping the ante on the training pitch is paying dividends come matchday.
“We’ve done a lot of double and triple sessions and the boys are feeling the benefits,” he said. “We’re all a lot fitter.
“If you’re fitter then later in the game you’ll be able to keep pressing and it shows.
“That’s the gameplan; constant pressure and the goals will come.
“I think we’re getting better every week. We keep progressing and working hard on the training pitch and I think that’s showing in the games we’ve played this season.
“Our main focus is to just keeping getting a win every week. That’s all we can do, we’ve done it against Dumbarton and we look forward to the game on Sunday.”
The win sets the men in maroon up nicely for this Sunday’s Edinburgh derby match at Eater Road and although Hearts are flying high in the table and already have a win over Hibs in the bag, Holty insists that he’ll continue to take each game as it comes and focus on nothing else.
“People have written Hibs off and have us as Championship winners already but that’s not the viewpoint in here,” he stated. “First and foremost we concentrate on ourselves. On Sunday we’ll go and try and get three points.
“We’re not concerned what the press and anyone else is saying. We go and do our jobs and that’s to go and keep getting three points every week.
“We beat Hibs earlier in the season but that’s in the past now. We look forward and it’ll be a completely different game. The main thing we want is three points and to keep going. That’s what we’re after.
“We want to keep winning and if you want to do anything this year then we need to keep winning games. That’s what we’re doing so far and we look to hopefully continue it.”
