The funeral of club legend Dave Mackay takes place tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, March 24) at 2pm at the stunning Mansfield Traquair in the Capital.
We would like to notify all fans that the funeral cortege for Dave’s last journey will leave Tynecastle Stadium at 1.15pm.
Travelling down Gorgie Road and Dalry Road, the cortege will go past the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial at Haymarket and along West Maitland Street and Shandwick Place before proceeding along Princes Street, down Leith Street and lastly, down Broughton Street to Mansfield Traquair.
We would urge any fans in the area to line Gorgie Road and Dalry Road, in particular, but not to come to Tynecastle itself as McLeod Street will be closed off from early morning.
After the memorial service in Mansfield Traquair, the family will have a private service at Warriston Crematorium and we would thank all fans in advance for respecting the privacy of this part of the day.
Some of the greats of British football will be in attendance tomorrow and this is testament to the highest regard in which Dave was held.
