Craig Levein thinks his side are becoming more like themselves as they shape up to host Motherwell tomorrow.
The Jambos face the Steelmen at Tynecastle having already won both encounters between the two teams this season.
While maximum points have not been achieved in Hearts’ previous two outings, spirited performances against Rangers and St Johnstone have given Craig belief that there are signs of progress as they look for three points and to stay in the hunt at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning, he said: “We’ve had a lot of knocks and I think we’ve been shunted off track a little bit.
“I think we’re getting back to a position where I feel we’re more like ourselves. Tomorrow, hopefully, is a good result and a good performance for us.
“We’ve had problems with injury and we’ve had two or three things go against us. The secret, and I’ve been here loads of times in the past, is to just keep plugging away.
“I said the other night that everything seems difficult just now. We have to fight for just about everything.
“Earlier in the season things were coming to us pretty easily. That’s just the way it is; sometimes you just have to dig in and through this period that’s what we’ve had to do.
“I’ve been pleased with the boys, in particular the last couple of games. I see signs of progress.
“We’re at home and as I said I feel that over the last couple of games there’s a bit of a spark back in the team. It would be fantastic for us if we can pick up three points tomorrow.”
