Case for the defence

Robbie Neilson happy with defensive numbers and reveals Juwon Oshaniwa could feature at Dundee.

Robbie Neilson has spoken of his delight at capturing Juwon Oshaniwa, and revealed that he could feature in tomorrow’s game at Dundee.

The Jambos head to Dens Park for the first away match of the new Ladbrokes Premiership season, and the head coach is pleased with his wealth of defensive options after capturing the services of Nigerian international Oshaniwa.

Speaking to the media this morning at Tynecastle, Robbie said: “I’ve got options at the back. I brought in Igor Rossi, we have Jordan McGhee, Alim Ozturk, Juwon Oshaniwa, Callum Paterson, Kevin McHattie and Liam Smith so we have a lot of options.

“I’m pleased with what I’ve got. I was pleased to get Juwon in. He’s almost ready and is another addition to the squad.

“All the players we’ve brought in this season have taken a level up, every one of them. That’s the most pleasing thing and Juwon’s exactly the same.

“He’s come in and he’s a level above what we’ve got at the moment and that’s what we want to do with every signing we bring in.

“He’ll be there this weekend. I don’t think he’s quite ready to play yet but he’ll be there.”
