'Eck of a support

25th November 2014

Adam Eckersley knows passionate Tynecastle crowd can inspire Jambos to Scottish Cup victory.

Adam Eckersley believes Hearts can upset the odds and beat Celtic in Sunday’s Scottish Cup match, thanks to a wonderful home support.

The Jambos head into the fourth round game off of the back of a marvelous 2-0 win over Rangers, and though Adam knows promotion is the priority, he thinks Robbie Neilson’s men have nothing to fear with the backing of the Tynecastle faithful.

Speaking exclusively to HeartsTV, Adam said: “I think the league’s very important. If we do well in the cup as well then that’s a bonus. If you look at it then, first and foremost, the priority is to get promoted.

“We can beat Celtic, and it’ll be a tall order, but we’ve definitely got the squad to do that, especially at home with the fans.

“The fans here are fantastic and the atmospheres are great. It makes you look forward to putting your boots on and going out to play on a Saturday.

“It’s different from Danish atmospheres and I suppose it’s different from some English Championship sides as well. I don’t think you can replicate it. It’s fantastic.

I think it was a little bit unlucky when we went there in the League Cup. Hopefully there will be no repeat of an own goal from me as well! That’s part of football, I suppose.

“I’m looking forward to it. Who knows what could happen. Let’s see what happens on Sunday.”
