Spartans victory is sweet for Eva

Hearts dominated possession but struggled to create many openings in the first half, however a Georgia Hunter header from a corner, followed up by an own-goal, was enough to secure a vital victory in the fight for fourth place.

“I think sometimes today we played some nice football, but obviously the goals weren’t particularly nice,” Eva explained at full-time.

“You always want to score nice goals, but overall, I thought we were the team trying to play football.

“Many times, we were trying to play short combination football. So, at half-time we said, ‘not everything is short’, sometimes you need to look longer to where the space is in behind, so we had to be brave in the final third with 1v1’s and that is what we tried to do in the second half and I think that is how we managed to get more clear opportunities.

“For me, that is the first time I have beaten Spartans. They are a side that always fight for every ball and it is not easy to play against those really aggressive teams. So, for that, I am so happy to get the three points and beat Spartans, finally.”
