Walking Football, a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at those over 50.
Walking Football, supported by Saltire Roofing, is designed to help people keep or kick-start an active lifestyle despite their age, as well as getting those back playing football who had to stop due to injuries.
As the name suggests, Walking Football is non-contact and only walking is allowed - no jogging, running or sprinting is allowed!
The game is played on a pitch 20/40 yards in length and 15/30 yards in width with the game restarted via a kick, roll or throw-in.
By playing 1 hour a week for 3 months it enables players to cover 30 miles and burn 4,200 calories!
As well as ‘a kick at the ball’ each week every player is welcome to join us for a ‘cuppa’ after each session.
Heart of Midlothian Walking Football currently has 50 registered players and takes place at World of Football at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh, EH14 1RJ.
The session runs at Tuesday lunchtimes from 12:00-1:00pm and costs just £3.00 per session inclusive of a hot drink afterwards.
