Ready for Action
02 February 2024Scott Fraser says he can’t wait to start life in a maroon jersey after completing a January loan switch to Gorgie from Charlton Athletic.
The attacking midfielder is back in Scotland after a successful period in English football. An old teammate of Liam Boyce’s from their time at Burton Albion, the 28-year-old says it made the decision to join Hearts straightforward.
“I was talking to Boycie for a week before the move happened, I’m really delighted to be here,” he told the media ahead of the Dundee game.
“He had loads of good things to say and he’s someone I trust and get on really well with. It always makes it easier coming into a dressing room when you know someone who can help you along the way.
I was just a kid when I got thrown in at United, and I was delighted to be in that position. I’ve experienced a lot of highs and lows since then and it’s hopefully something I can bring to the table here.”
A product of the Dundee United youth system, and a native Dundonian, Scott could be in line to make his Hearts bow when the Jambos travel to Dens Park tomorrow.
The midfielder was full of praise for Tony Docherty’s side and says he’s ready to jump straight into the thick of it if called upon by Steven Naismith.
“Being from Dundee, I’ve got a lot of mates who support them,” he smiled. “I think their manager has gone in there and done really well. They’ve got a young, energetic team with a mix of experience in there as well.
“I’m ready to go if needed. That’s what I came here to do. The team’s on a good run with a lot of excellent players here. If the manager throws me in, then I’m happy to come straight in and do that.”
