Match Report: MWFC 1-1 HWFC

Eva Olid made one change to the side that faced Celtic last weekend, as Aimee Anderson replaced Monica Forsyth.

It was a bright start from Hearts and they had numerous chances in the opening ten minutes. After some early corners for the Jambos, a scramble ensued in the Motherwell box and the ball was eventually hacked off the line.

Moments later, Hearts went close again. Jenna Penman made ground down the right and her cross just evaded Georgia Timms who was waiting to tap home from close range.

Despite having all the early pressure, it was the home side who took the lead. Lauren Doran-Barr didn’t give up on a lost cause and after charging down Charlotte Parker-Smith’s clearance, she rolled the ball into the empty net to open the scoring.

Hearts didn’t let that goal phase them however and continued to deliver dangerous crosses into the Motherwell box to no avail.

Hearts would’ve felt they should’ve been ahead at the break with the chances they missed, but they almost found themselves two down at the break when McDonald-Nguah lobbed Parker-Smith, but the crossbar came to the rescue for Hearts.

Eva Olid made three changes at the break in the hope of grabbing an equaliser and it finally arrived on the hour mark.

Hearts had looked dangerous from cross balls all game and eventually, one was finished off by substitute Monica Forsyth with a cool finish into the bottom corner.

It was a period that Hearts really dominated but to no avail, Timms came closest when she made a front post run and flicked Jenny Smith’s low cross over the bar.

Despite all the chances the Jambos created, it was Motherwell who almost snatched it after a penalty box scramble saw the ball come back off the post before being claimed by a relieved Parker-Smith.

That was the last action on a frustrating afternoon, but they have the chance to put it right in another huge game against Glasgow City at Oriam.
