Kingsley: Squad has belief

22 June 2023

The Jambos face the toughest of tests against Celtic at Tynecastle tomorrow lunchtime, with a place in the competition's final four at stake.

After a strong showing in midweek at Celtic Park, Stephen believes Hearts have proven that not only can they go toe-to-toe with Celtic, but also reach the latter stages of the Scottish Cup, something they have enjoyed regularly in recent years.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Stephen said:

“I think we have definitely proven in recent years that we can get to the latter stages in these cups, so now it’s up to us to take that next step. We’ve got the belief in the squad, it’s a goal we’ve set ourselves to take that next step and get our hands on the trophy.

“It’s always a tough ask when you play Celtic, but we can take confidence from our performance on Wednesday night, so, if we can put together a complete 90 minute performance rather than just playing in glimpses.

“The fans are going to be right behind us. The place is going to be bouncing, so that’s going to be a massive boost for us to try and get through some of the difficult periods that are likely to come at some point during the game, so to get them at home is brilliant for us.”
