Match Report: HMWFC 2-0 SWFC

22 June 2023

Eva Olid made six changes to the side that defeated Glasgow Women last time out, as Charlotte Parker-Smith, Georgia Hunter, Monica Forsyth, Addie Handley, Cailin Michie and Vyan Sampson all returned to the starting 11.

It was a first 45 of very few chances at either end, as Hearts, who dominated possession, were restricted to efforts from distance by a very well-drilled Spartans.

Neither goalkeeper had been seriously tested and it was Parker-Smith who was forced into the first serious save, denying Hannah Jordan at the back post.

It hadn’t been pretty, but Hearts finally got the goal they craved 12 minutes into the second half when Ciara Grant’s front post delivery was headed home by Hunter.

Hearts stepped it up after the goal and got a deserved second when substitute Jenny Smith was direct down the right channel and her low cross was diverted in to her own net by Robyn McCafferty.

The chances continued to come for Hearts, who remained tight at the back to record another clean sheet and move eight points clear in fourth spot.
