Free clubs for highschoolers

Hearts' Innovation Centre is delighted to announce the details of four clubs starting in the coming months, details for each club can be found below. The Innovation Centre offers a range of clubs and workshops that are FREE for all young people to attend, with all equipment provided, easy-to-follow instructions and no previous experience required.

 

 

Inventing for Good

All you need to solve a problem is an idea. Find a problem from anywhere around the world, big or small, and invent a technology device to solve it – a small idea can make a huge difference.

Go through all the stages of creating a prototype of an invention – research, planning, and building – with technology experts inspiring and helping you along the way. Coding with the micro:bit to bring your invention to life, you will develop your problem solving, planning and creativity skills to explore how technology can be used for good.

Ages: All students in S1-S3 
Date & Time: Starts Wednesday 3rd May and runs to Wednesday 21st June, 4:30pm-6pm

Gaming for Good

Upgrade your tech skills by designing and building your own video game for good with industry experts supporting you along the way! Explore behind-the-scenes in the gaming industry by seeing first-hand how to come up with an idea for a video game and taking it all the way to a prototype that you can share with the world.

Creating a video game with MakeCode Arcade, you will develop your problem solving, planning and creativity skills to explore how video games can be used to bring attention to important world issues.

Ages: All students in S1-S3
Date & Time: Starts Monday 1st May and runs to Monday 26th June, 4:30pm-6pm

Digital Athletes

Is there an area of technology you would love to explore, but haven’t yet been given the opportunity to? Whether it is coding related, or not, at Digital Athletes you will have the space and support to plan, design and build your own projects and creations.

Meet weekly to catch up with fellow tech enthusiasts and industry experts, who can guide you on your project journey and teach you about the future of technology in their field. No technology experience needed – all you need is the passion to create with technology.

Digital Athletes is less of a club, and more of a supportive space for you to drop-in and work on developing your own tech projects. No problem if you miss a session (even the first) - just continue your project where you left off. We provide equipment, laptops, and resources to get you started.

Ages: All students in S1-S3
Date & Time: Starts Friday April 21st and runs to Friday 23rd June, drop in during 3:15pm-4:30pm

Digital Champions

Are you unsure about what you want to do after high school, or with your future career?

Whether it is related to your current subjects and interests, or not, at Digital Champions you will have the space and support to start and develop tech projects. Meet weekly to catch up with fellow tech enthusiasts and industry experts, who can guide you on your project journey and teach you about the future of technology in their field.

No technology experience needed – all you need is the passion to create with technology.

Digital Champions is less of a club, and more of a supportive space for you to drop-in and work on developing your own tech projects. No problem if you miss a session (even the first) - just continue your project where you left off. We provide equipment, laptops, and resources to get you started.
