Fox disappointed not to take three points

29 September 2023
Liam Fox admits his young Hearts side paid the price for missed chances in the 1-1 draw with East Stirlingshire on Friday night.

The Wee Jambos were ahead early doors through Callum Sandilands and despite creating a number of chances, they failed to take any and paid the price as Scott Honeyman ensured a share of the spoils.

“I’m disappointed tonight,” Fox told the Official Hearts Website.

“I thought for the first 15-20 minutes, we let East Stirling off the hook in that early period.

“We created another three or four really good chances that I expect us to take, and we didn’t.

“When you don’t take your chances, you always run the risk of letting the opposition back in the game.

“The opposition will always have their spell in a match and they’ve scored in that period.

“In the second half, we were hoping to start the way we did in the first half. We huffed and puffed but we didn’t really create that many clear-cut chances, despite having lots of the ball which is disappointing.

“We looked a bit leggy. We’ve had a lot of games in a short space of time and then no games in a 3-week period and I think that showed tonight.”
